for their great customer service.
eBay's
"Buy It Now"  - Though eBay is
known as an auction site, there are several
member businesses and individuals who sell their
products at a fixed price. Just search for the
product as usual, and look for the Buy It
Now icons to identify fixed-price
products.
TigerDirect.com  - Sells primarily
new and refurbished PCs, not much surplus. Good
selection to choose from at low prices. Click
RECERTIFIED on the site's navigation bar (along
the top) to see Tiger's refurbished computers.
Dell
Outlet  - Refurbished
Dell computers sold by Dell themselves are great
systems with good warranties. But we downgraded
them by one star because their prices tend to run
a bit on the high side. If clicking on the
Dell Outlet link takes you to the Dell Home page
instead, click REFURBISHED SYSTEMS on their
navigation bar (along the very top) to go to the
Dell Outlet.
Overstock.com  - Offers great
prices on a large selection of desktop and laptop
computers. Sells both surplus and refurbished
systems. Also sells electronics, cameras, and
other goods at deeply discounted prices.
Downgraded by one star due to higher-than-average
return rates in recent weeks.
Half.com  - Similar to an
auction site in that the seller can be anybody in
the United States, but prices are fixed. Some
prices are incredibly low. (See our Used
Computer Auctions category.)
Amazon.com
Used Systems - Decent prices
on a moderate selection of older used desktops
and laptops. (Amazon also sells used and
refurbished computer parts, but not at the lowest
of prices.) But, of course, you get the great
customer service Amazon is famous for.
