The Protek B-813 RF generator (also sold as the Lodestar SG-4160B) is the most widely used low-cost generator available. And at less than $140, Parts Express' price is one of the lowest. The instrument generates 100 kHz to 150 MHz sinewaves in 6 bands, and up to 450 MHz on third harmonics. It has a +/- 3% dial accuracy and an output level of up to 100 mV RMS at full load to 35MHz. An internal modulation source of 1 kHz is available, or an external source ranging from 50 Hz to 20 kHz can be selected. An external crystal socket is available for precision fixed-frequency output signals.
